Overview
In this role you will join Arup's Global Payroll Shared Service Centre in Newcastle to deliver accurate monthly payrolls across the UK, India, Middle East and Africa. You will manage end-to-end payroll processing, statutory absences, reconciliations and compliance, while contributing to process improvements in a collaborative SSC. You will work with multiple country payrolls, shadow payroll activities and tax uploads to ensure excellent service for our members. This is a globally scoped role with opportunities to influence payroll governance in a purpose‑driven, values‑led organization.

Responsibilities
- Process monthly payrolls including starters, leavers and one-off payments
- Manage statutory absence (SMP, SPL) and sickness updates
- Support shadow payroll activity and tax uploads
- Prepare payroll journals and perform account reconciliations
- Ensure compliance with local payroll legislation
- Maintain accurate data through regular checking and cleansing
- Process third‑party payments and deliver member support
- Help document, review and improve procedures
Key requirements
- Strong payroll processing experience
- Proficient Excel skills
- High accuracy and ability to work to tight deadlines
- Understanding of payroll legislation and processes
- Experience in a Shared Service Centre (advantageous)
