Our team are leaders in ground engineering working on a diverse range of projects from building design to infrastructure for water, energy, mining, rail, highways and aviation. Wherever difficult ground conditions, sensitive environments or ambitious projects present geotechnical and geological challenges, we provide robust and advanced solutions.

Due to the continued growth of our business within the ground engineering team, we are looking for Geotechnical Engineers and Engineering Geologists to join our Newcastle office, located in the city centre. You will have the freedom to push boundaries, develop new skills and work on some of the current high‑profile projects, from major urban developments and infrastructure improvements to projects that deliver our energy transition, enhance the natural environment or provide resilience to the effects of climate change.

Working within the Ground Engineering team, you will use your existing technical and professional skills to interpret and characterise the ground, develop, supervise and interpret ground investigations, undertake geotechnical analysis, develop solutions to geotechnical challenges and deliver high quality work to our clients. You will be responsible for producing high quality design deliverables, insightful reports or engaging presentations across a range of markets and sectors. You will also take an active role in progressing your professional development to hone your skills and gain appropriate professional qualifications.

This role requires a good appreciation of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering and their application in the built environment with the critical thinking skills to assess the buildability of the designs you prepare.

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Are working towards chartership with a relevant institution.
  • Have a background working as a geotechnical engineer or engineering geologist, with experience of geotechnical deliverables such as desk studies, ground investigation scopes and specifications, interpretative reports and an understanding and experience of geotechnical design, such as shallow and deep foundations, earthworks or retaining walls and site development.
  • Are great communicators, including report writing and presentations, are collaborative and enthusiastic team members, have enquiring minds and a desire to learn and progress your career.
