The opportunity Arup is looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join our growing team in Newcastle and help deliver an exciting and diverse portfolio of projects ranging from large-scale data centre developments and strategic utility infrastructure to energy, industrial and water sector schemes. With a strong pipeline of opportunities across the UK and internationally, you'll have the chance to lead technically challenging projects, work directly with industry-leading clients and collaborate with experts across multiple disciplines. This role offers the opportunity to influence projects from concept through to construction while developing both your technical expertise and leadership career. You will work within multidisciplinary teams delivering infrastructure and site development projects, with a particular focus on: Surface water drainage strategy and design Foul drainage networks and infrastructure Utility coordination, diversion and connection design Earthworks and site level Highays and access infrastructure Development ifrastructure planning and delivery As a senior engineer, you will: Lead the technical delivery of civil engineering packages on complex projects. Develop drainage, utilities and infrastructure strategies that support project objectives and future growth. Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and interfaces with external stakeholders. Manage project programmes, resources, budgets and technical quality. Build and maintain strong client relationships. Support project bids, proposals and business development activities. Mentor and develop junior engineers and technicians. Act as a technical reviewer and champion best practice across the team. Is This Role Right for You? We are looking for an experienced candidate with a strong background in civil infrastructure, who is motivated by supporting people and working on complex, high-profile projects. We're looking for candidates who can demonstrate: Relevant degree in Civil Engineering or similar. Chartered status or equivariant experience Experience delivering drainage, utilities and infrastructure design on complex projects. Strong technical skills and ability to manage design packages. Confident communicator with experience working directly with clients and stakeholders. We would like to see: Proven experience leading multidisciplinary infrastructure projects. Strong project and design management capability. Track record of developing client relationships and winning work. Experience managing project teams and supporting the development of others.
