- Extensive experience in high‑voltage transmission cable design (HV/EHV systems).

- Strong knowledge of IEC, IEEE, and other relevant standards.
- Proficiency in advanced design software (e.g., CDEGS, CYMCAP, Comsol, AutoCAD or equivalent).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Previous National Grid experience (preferred but not essential).
Responsibilities
- Technical leadership and strategic delivery of transmission cable system designs.
- Ensure the design and integration of cable systems for major electricity transmission projects.
- Champion best‑practice design, guide design teams, and act as the key technical authority.
- Define and uphold best‑in‑class practices for HVAC and HVDC cable design across diverse projects.
- Oversee the full lifecycle of high‑voltage transmission cable systems (both AC and DC, overhead and underground).
- Approve detailed designs and champion continuous improvement.
- Develop talent, mentor junior engineers, and lead rigorous technical reviews.
- Act as the primary technical interface for clients, regulators, and contractors, supporting tendering, cost‑optimisation, and strategic partnership.
- Spearhead new technology initiatives, enhance design methodologies, and represent the organisation in industry forums.
