Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach has set us apart for over 75 years, guiding how we shape a better world. Arup's Digital Technology group is home to the Design Driven Collaboration (DDC) team, a creative and user‑focused group dedicated to improving how people interact with digital products, services and information. Bringing together UX researchers, designers and technical writers, we champion evidence‑based design and clear communication to ensure our products are useful, usable and accessible.

As part of this team, you'll play an important role in translating complex technical concepts into clear, engaging and user‑centred content, supporting product adoption, knowledge sharing and the continual improvement of our digital products and services.

The role offers opportunities to broaden your skills beyond technical documentation, developing expertise in content strategy, accessibility, user‑centred design, knowledge management and emerging AI‑enabled ways of working. Access Arup's learning resources, mentoring and global communities while developing specialist expertise in content design, accessibility, knowledge management and AI‑enabled ways of working.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Own and maintain documentation, guidance and learning resources for one or more digital products and services.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, concise and user‑centred content for a range of audiences.
  • Collaborate with developers, designers, researchers and subject‑matter experts throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Advise product teams on content requirements and contribute to content‑related decisions that improve the user experience.
  • Create and maintain user guides, online help, release notes, interface content and knowledge resources.
  • Champion documentation standards, accessibility and content best practice.
  • Identify opportunities to improve documentation processes, tools and ways of working, including the responsible use of AI.

You enjoy translating complex technical concepts into clear, concise and user‑friendly content. You are curious about how people use software and are motivated to improve their experience. You enjoy collaborating with a wide range of people and building trusted working relationships. You take ownership of your work and are comfortable managing competing priorities. You are keen to learn, improve and explore new approaches to communication, content design and digital products.

At Arup, we care about each member’s success, so we can grow together. Guided by our values, we provide an attractive total reward package that recognises the contribution of each of our members to our shared success. We are owned in trust on behalf of our members, giving us the freedom, with personal responsibility, to set our own direction and choose work that aligns with our purpose and adds to Arup’s legacy.

Arup is an equal opportunity employer that actively promotes and nurtures a diverse and inclusive workforce. We welcome applications from individuals of all backgrounds, regardless of age, gender identity or expression, marital status, disability, neurotype or mental health, race or ethnicity, faith or belief, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, and whether you’re pregnant or on family leave.
