Bachelor or master's qualification in a relevant field, such as Carbon and/or Climate Change Management, Civil / Mechanical / Electrical / Environmental Engineering, Geography, Environmental Science (with appropriate and relevant knowledge). Appropriate chartership or working towards - e.g. Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv, CEng) Desirable.

Knowledge in carbon assessment and modelling including development of mitigation strategies. Appreciation of UK and/or devolved administration policy and regulatory framework for carbon and climate.

As part of the Climate and Sustainability business, our consultants have extensive expertise in carbon management. Arup has been involved in numerous projects aimed at reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and promoting sustainable practices.

We are looking for a Senior Consultant in carbon management and assessment for a range of projects which might include developing Net Zero strategies and action plans; sustainability supply chain management; or environmental impact assessment for major infrastructure projects and other development.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Undertaking carbon assessments and providing advice on decarbonisation;
  • Running carbon workshops with developers and design teams;
  • Whole life carbon assessment for a range of infrastructure and energy projects;
  • Undertaking technical reviews of others' carbon modelling;
  • Bringing knowledge to reinforce advice on carbon management to external and internal clients;
  • Supporting the team in business development activities such as preparation of expressions of interest and proposals, networking and client engagement activities.

As Senior Consultant you will develop and convey your knowledge in carbon and climate change in the development of our services and the skills of others. You will be curious about the links between national policy on climate mitigation, economic growth, and wider sustainability benefits and will bring your own distinctive skills and knowledge to support the delivery of new services to our clients.
