The Opportunity: We are seeking an experienced Senior Environmental Consultant to manage environmental and sustainability delivery in the construction and design of major infrastructure and development projects. Based in our London Climate and Sustainability Service Group, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to sustainable project outcomes on complex, high-profile construction projects at planning, procurement, delivery and stage. This role would particularly suit candidates working within a construction delivery environment who are looking to transition into applying practical construction experience to provide strategic advice and improve environmental performance across projects.
Your role would be to manage work with clients on significant major infrastructure, property, and masterplan development projects. Typical types of work include the following:
- Strategic environmental and sustainability advice across projects.
- Embedding environmental and sustainability requirements in plans, contracts and procurement requirements.
- Interpreting environmental and sustainability impact assessments.
- Leading and coordinating the preparation of Site / Construction Environmental Management Plans and Codes of Construction Practice.
- Environmental and sustainability assessment, monitoring and assessment reporting.

Is this role right for you? We are looking for people with the following skills:
- Relevant Undergraduate degree qualification.
- Registered Practitioner or Full Member of the Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP) or equivalent.
- Experience in working with environmental and health and safety management systems in construction environments.
- Experience delivering environmental and/or sustainability management on major or complex construction projects (infrastructure and/or buildings).
- Experience delivering environmental management within live construction environments, ideally with a construction contractor, infrastructure asset management organisation, or equivalent.
- Ability to interpret and visualise construction programmes, schedules, methodologies, sequencing, site location and configuration and/or enabling and temporary works design.
- Relevant master’s degree qualification (desirable).
- ISEP Registered Environmental Auditor (desirable).
- Chartered Environmentalist (desirable).
- BREEAM Infrastructure Project Assessor (desirable).
- Experience of environmental management in construction across two or more industrial sectors (e.g. energy, water, transport, property) (desirable).
