Joining Arup, our Electrical Engineers apply their specialist skills to infrastructure projects across the globe. We have expertise in Water, Energy, Power, Industrial Clients, and Process sectors including water and wastewater treatment, pumping stations, reservoirs, water distribution, hydro, CHP, waste‑to‑energy, solar PV, hydrogen and wind, gas, HV/LV transmission and distribution, steam generation, chemical handling, and food and beverage processing. Our clients include water companies, energy generators, rail infrastructure owners, government agencies and councils, process industries, and renewable energy investors.
The Opportunity: We’re looking for talented Electrical Engineers with experience in Instrumentation and Controls to join our growing team. For senior roles, you’ll lead multidisciplinary teams, mentor colleagues, and shape technical excellence. What you’ll do:

- Work on project delivery, ensuring quality, timelines, and budgets are met.
- Apply and grow your knowledge of Electrical and Control Systems design, CDM regulations, and relevant design tools.
- Support our mission to create a low‑carbon, equitable future aligned with Arup values and UN Sustainable Development Goals.
- Work on a wide variety of projects to deliver sustainable designs in wind, solar, hydro, hydrogen, energy storage, water treatment and distribution, wastewater, and industrial systems.
What we’re looking for:
- Ability to interpret and produce detailed design documentation.
- Familiarity with design software and tools (e.g., Trimble).
- For senior candidates: manage multidisciplinary projects in a wide variety of sectors (Energy, Water, Resources) and demonstrate detailed knowledge of CDM regulations.
- For mid‑level engineers: enthusiasm to learn and develop technical and leadership skills.
- Ability to produce and interpret complex or detailed design drawings and documentation.
- Confident in managing multidisciplinary projects in a wide variety of sectors (Energy, Water, Resources) and having detailed knowledge of CDM regulations.
- Specialist knowledge either of developing or already having expertise in at least one specialist area of Electrical and/or Control Systems engineering.
- Appreciation of Electrical and/or Control Systems engineering and in particular, design.
- Knowledge of relevant design tools, techniques and related methods (e.g., IT systems, Trimble).
- Proficient in specifying development work and interpreting and applying results.
- Adept with design software as well as other standard products.
- Ideally IEng or CEng Professional Registration status through IET, CIBSE or another relevant body.
- A Master’s Engineering Degree or equivalent is preferred.
Successful candidates will need an eligible UK driving licence. Holding or being eligible to gain security clearance is advantageous.
