Our Level 4 Advanced Apprenticeships allow you to study for industry-recognised qualifications whilst earning a competitive salary. As an apprentice, you will study with a training provider, such as a college, and combine this experience with real responsibilities in the workplace. Your study pattern could be day or block release, or via distance learning, depending on the course that you enrol on. A dedicated mentor will guide you through your personal and professional development. Level 4 Apprenticeships have a typical duration of two or three years, during which you will attain both a professional and academic qualification to further your career. Our apprentices are employed on a permanent basis, so you will continue to progress with Arup once you have completed your course.

We are currently recruiting for Civil Engineering Apprentice to join our Bridges & Civil Structures team. Depending on what team you join, projects and designs will come in all shapes and sizes and could include highways, bridges, rail schemes, roads & pavements, drainage & flood defences, dams, reservoirs, sports stadia, schools, universities, offices and industrial premises. You could also get involved in the computer modelling and drawing of access roads, civil structures, bridges, and utility infrastructure. You will help us to deliver effective and professional services for a range of varied and high-profile clients. As part of your apprenticeship, you will study towards a Level 4 qualification in Civil Engineering with one of our local partner colleges.

Our work covers the full range of civil engineering structures and bridges, and we are a driving force behind the concept and delivery of major infrastructure projects. Our projects transform and greatly improve daily lives, from new build designs which complement their environments through to the strengthening of existing assets to sustainably extend their life. In Bridges and Civil Structures, this entails us being at the cutting edge in the use of technology such as 3D solid modelling, automation tools, coding, databases and data analytics. As such, we are looking for candidates with an aptitude and interest in developing in these areas alongside the more traditional technical and engineering skills.

From day one, you will be part of a friendly and supportive team, delivering projects to improve the infrastructure used every day – whether it is for transport, energy or water schemes. The work will be varied, both technically and in terms of project size and location.

We are looking for apprentices who are curious and ready to evolve how they think and work.

  • Hold GCSE (or equivalent) qualifications in English and Maths at grades A–C / 9–4.
