The Opportunity

Arup is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Internal Auditor to join our newly established Internal Audit function. This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping a modern audit approach, combining in-house expertise with co-sourced delivery, while contributing to the development of a fully integrated assurance framework. In this role, you will gain broad exposure across the business and have the opportunity to influence how audit activity aligns with Group Risk priorities. You will work closely with both internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure a consistent, high-quality audit approach that adds real value to the organisation.

As an Internal Auditor, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality internal audit engagements in line with the approved audit plan
  • Monitor and track audit actions, ensuring timely follow-up on overdue or high-risk items, with appropriate escalation where required
  • Act as a key day-to-day liaison with the co-source audit partner
  • Review audit working papers and reports produced by the co-source provider to ensure quality and consistency
  • Support the delivery of hybrid audit engagements, working collaboratively across internal and external teams
  • Contribute to the annual audit planning process, ensuring alignment with key risk priorities
  • Build strong, trusted relationships with stakeholders and senior management across the business
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of internal audit practices and methodologies
  • Promote the value and impact of Internal Audit across Arup

Is This Role Right for You?

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Internal Audit professional with the ability to deliver high-quality audits and build strong stakeholder relationships across a complex organisation.

Essential Experience & Skills

  • Demonstrable experience within an internal audit environment, with a track record of delivering end-to-end audits
  • Professionally qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIA or equivalent)
  • Experience across risk-based audits, including financial controls, business processes, and governance, risk or compliance reviews
  • Confident stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage, influence and constructively challenge management
  • Excellent audit report writing skills, producing clear, concise and practical outputs with proportionate recommendations
  • Solid understanding of internal audit standards, methodologies and best practice
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience within a professional services environment
  • Exposure to working with risk, finance and digital technology teams
  • Ability to contribute to control design and remediation, beyond issue identification
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement of audit methodologies and practices
