Overview

Our Economics and Casemaking team sits within our Cities, Planning and Design (CPD) portfolio and is at the forefront in thinking about the future of our places. Our Economics & Casemaking team provides strategy, research, planning, and consultancy services to a range of high-profile clients. We work across several sub-areas including transport, urban mobility, economic development, energy, water, science and innovation.

Economics & Casemaking is a core service area within Arup\’s Cities, Planning and Design (CPD) portfolio, with CPD at the forefront of addressing the increasingly complex challenges our clients face. By quantifying value, assessing impacts, and building compelling narratives and business cases, we help clients make informed choices that support sustainable development and help to create a better world.

Role

The role will involve working on projects requiring a range of quantitative and qualitative skills, as well as the ability to effectively support client relationships and work as part of integrated project teams.

Qualifications

  • An undergraduate degree in economics (achieved/predicted minimum of 2:1, or equivalent) or Master\’s degree in economics, urban development / geography, business, or a numerate discipline where you have learnt the essentials of economics.
  • Numerical proficiency, research and analytical skills: you can analyse data, undertake qualitative research and synthesise information.
  • Team working: you are an enthusiastic person, passionate about collaboration and bringing people together around a shared idea.
  • Communication: you are able to communicate effectively, with an ability to deliver clear and concise written documents and present key findings effectively.
  • IT proficiency: You have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel and Powerpoint. Useful but not required: econometrics, statistical analysis, data visualisation and publishing skills.
