The Opportunity

Our Asset Management team works across sectors to help clients incorporate innovative and cost‑effective approaches, maximising value from their assets and achieving long‑term economic, environmental and social sustainability goals. We help clients develop asset management strategies, optimise investment plans, implement digital tools and evolve asset management business processes. We are looking for an Asset Management Consultant to join the team specialising in the Water sector. As a consultant you will support delivery of asset management commissions while building lasting relationships with our clients. You will develop your technical knowledge alongside consulting and people skills by working closely with clients and Arup colleagues on a range of commissions. The role will focus on the water sector with the opportunity to work across transport and energy sectors. This role is based in the north of England or Scotland, with hybrid working available.

Is this role right for you?

We’re looking for candidates with a foundation of knowledge in infrastructure assets, asset management or operations and knowledge of whole‑life asset management principles, including ISO 55000. The role requires growing experience or awareness in several of the following aspects: asset management strategy, policy and capability development, strategic investment planning, organisational structure and governance, business performance and operation, procurement and supply chain and transformational change.

We Are Seeking The Following Skills And Attributes

  • Technical understanding of infrastructure asset design or operations with experience of working in, or advising, infrastructure asset management organisations in a regulated environment.
  • Degree in a relevant discipline and achieved or soon to achieve a relevant chartership, professional qualification and membership of a professional body.
  • Ability to work in technical and complex projects and deliver high‑quality products, comfortable working across changing priorities and projects.
  • Growing awareness of project management skills.
  • Strong communication skills to present ideas clearly to diverse audiences, including clients, senior management and non‑specialists.
