Opportunity

The Finance Systems team functionally supports multiple systems used by Arup Finance worldwide and is delivering a strategic change program to enhance our capabilities across Finance, aligned with the Global Finance Vision. This role supports the Group Head of Finance Systems by ensuring our broad user base can maximize our systems, providing functional support, governance, and effective controls.

Responsibilities

  • Functional Support: Respond to user queries and troubleshoot issues; Collaborate on new developments and lead/support UAT activities; Design solutions based on user requirements, aligned to strategic goals; Deliver user training and contribute to ongoing process improvement.
  • Governance & Control: Maintain documentation and change control across systems; Monitor regulatory shifts and assess their impact on systems; Manage access controls and ensure consistent, accurate data; Define and maintain data structures and hierarchies.
  • General Contribution: Triage incoming queries and direct them appropriately; Track and prioritise requests, keeping stakeholders informed; Build strong cross‑functional relationships and manage expectations; Use standard tools to report on progress and tackle challenges; Support wider initiatives led by the Group Head of Finance Systems.

Qualifications

  • Solid understanding of Finance systems and a genuine interest in their operation across finance functions.
  • Experience working in a Finance environment, with an appreciation of how finance processes, reporting requirements, and systems interact to support organisational needs.
  • Experience in a complex international setting and the ability to analyse financial data, identify trends, and translate insights into meaningful action.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, alongside effective organisational abilities to balance conflicting priorities and deadlines.
  • Collaborative mindset, sound judgement, and ability to build trusted relationships across the organisation.
  • Clear communication skills, written, verbal, and presentational, especially when reporting progress or resolving issues with stakeholders.
  • Customer focus and the ability to engage effectively with business and IT colleagues.
  • Optional: Accounts qualification or experience in Finance system administration will be a definite plus.
