The Opportunity
At Arup, our Real Estate Team is responsible for shaping and delivering changes to workplace environments that support our people, our business and our values. We are seeking an experienced Real Estate professional to take on a permanent regional role, responsible for the delivery of workplace projects across the UK and Europe. This role will act as Arup's Project Delivery Lead for Workplace Projects across the region, overseeing a diverse portfolio of refurbishment, fit out and relocation projects, from single office upgrades to full floor transformations, including complex relocations and specialist spaces. You will collaborate closely with global and regional stakeholders to ensure consistent, high quality delivery. You will provide client side leadership and governance, overseeing external, locally based project managers responsible for on the ground delivery across multiple countries. This is a pivotal role where you'll help shape workplaces that are functional, sustainable and inclusive, ensuring projects align with Arup's values and integrate seamlessly with day to day operations across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as Arup's Project Delivery Lead for workplace projects across the UK and Europe, with accountability for programme performance, quality, cost and risk.
- Work across different regulatory environments and navigate cultural and operational differences.
- Provide strategic oversight and governance of refurbishment, fit out and relocation projects delivered by external, locally appointed project managers.
- Develop and manage project briefs, budgets and financial controls, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations, Arup governance requirements and sustainability objectives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Real Estate, WFM, Digital Technology, AV, HSEQ and local office teams) to ensure consistent standards, best practice and smooth integration with business operations.
- Oversee project documentation, programmes and reporting in line with RIBA stages and Arup Office Design Guidance.
- Manage procurement and tendering processes, including contract oversight and defect liability periods.
- Maintain strong regional and global stakeholder relationships, providing clear communication, reporting and assurance to senior leadership.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of workplace project delivery frameworks, governance processes and regional capability.
- Ensure projects reflect Arup's commitment to sustainable design, inclusive environments and responsible procurement.
Is this role right for you?
- A clear and confident communicator across all levels, with strong verbal, written and listening skills.
- Detail oriented and pragmatic, with strong problem solving, decision making and risk management capability.
- Proven experience acting in a client side real estate or project delivery leadership role for commercial workplace projects, including large scale or complex programmes.
- Experience managing and overseeing external project managers, consultants and contractors across multiple locations.
- Strong knowledge of JCT contracts and experience navigating regulatory and compliance environments.
- Demonstrable experience delivering workplace projects in live office environments and across regional or international portfolios.
- Experience with global frameworks or corporate standards.
- Professional qualification in Project and Programme Management or building design (Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering).
