This is an exciting time to join our growing Transport team as we expand our work in bridge design, renewal and asset management. You’ll contribute to major projects across the UK — including significant Scottish bridge renewals such as the Queensferry Crossing and Forth Road Bridge — while helping deliver smart, data‑driven solutions for ageing structures.
In this role, you’ll carry out inspections, assessments, analysis and design, develop contract documents, and create intelligent BIM models for coordinated design delivery. You’ll also collaborate closely with digital and data specialists, with opportunities to build skills in areas such as Python coding, advanced data processing and smart bridge technologies. Alongside project delivery, you’ll support feasibility studies, multidisciplinary coordination and bid preparation, with strong prospects for long‑term technical and career development.
Is this role for you?
- A master’s degree in Civil Engineering and, ideally, progression toward professional qualification.
- Experience with bridge analysis and design tools (e.g., MIDAS, SOFiSTiK) and confidence working with BIM processes and model delivery.
- Technical capability in bridge inspection, assessment and renewal for both standard and complex structures.
- Digital skills (or a desire to develop them), such as coding in Python, data management, visualisation or using platforms like Databricks.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex issues, write clear reports and build effective client relationships.
- Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams and delivering projects across different stages of the lifecycle.
- Enthusiasm for shaping the future of transport and bridge engineering, supported by curiosity, creativity and a desire to innovate.
