We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and ambitious Data Scientist to join our Transport Modelling team in London. This role offers the chance to work on cutting‑edge agent‑based and activity‑based modelling projects, collaborating with senior transport modellers, project managers and multidisciplinary teams across Arup.
In this role, you will help develop innovative modelling approaches to understand travel behaviour, test future scenarios and support major transport and city‑shaping decisions. Your work will directly inform scheme appraisal, mitigation testing and long‑term planning for complex urban environments. You will apply advanced data science techniques, build and calibrate models, and communicate insights clearly through both traditional and non‑traditional outputs. The role provides strong opportunities for technical growth, thought leadership and professional development, alongside exposure to high‑profile projects in the UK and internationally.

We are keen to hear from candidates who are motivated by technical challenge, collaboration and continuous learning. You are likely to bring:
- Demonstrable experience in data science, simulation, urban modelling and/or transport modelling
- Strong Python skills, with experience using version control tools such as GitHub
- A master’s degree in a relevant discipline (for example Data Science, Transport Planning or Statistics)
- The ability to communicate complex data and modelling outputs clearly, through visualisation, reports and presentations
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with confidence working independently and collaboratively in client‑facing environments.
