Arup’s purpose, shared values and collaborative approach have set us apart for 80 years, guiding how we shape a better world. Our current projects are varied, exciting and often high profile including the fields of Flood Risk and River Engineering, Water and Wastewater and Sewerage. We work across all phases of projects from advisory, concept, through to detailed design and construction supervision.
Arup’s Civil Engineering team is looking to recruit a Civil Engineer to join our Leeds office to work within a team of about 100 Engineers, Scientists and Technicians who work with others throughout the North of England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. You will take ownership of specific design packages and projects, including their commercial aspects, while working closely with clients, customers and colleagues to achieve agreed outcomes. The role also involves coordinating events, activities, processes and smaller internal projects, with opportunities to take on greater project leadership or develop technical specialisms. Supporting and mentoring junior engineers in their development will also be an important part of the role.
We deliver projects for a whole host of clients and organisations including government agencies (both national and local), local authorities, private developers, contractors, and utility companies. We collaborate on projects across the North of United Kingdom, the UK and overseas as part of a wide and diverse global organisation and are therefore able to bring expertise in from far and wide as well as providing support to others around the world.
We are looking for someone with experience in civil engineering design who is passionate about their work. We recognise that great engineers develop their expertise through different career paths and experiences, and we encourage applications from people whose experience may not align perfectly with every area listed below.
We are interested in candidates who can demonstrate a combination of the following skills:
- Suitable Civil Engineering Degree (Class 2.1 or above) in line with technical specialism
- Working towards or achieved a recognised professional qualification
- Demonstrated civil engineering design experience, ideally across Water, Utilities or Transport projects.
- Proficiency with Civil 3D, AutoCAD/MicroStation, InfoDrainage, GIS and an interest in BIM/digital design.
- Experience managing design packages/projects, including quality, commercial and client responsibilities.
- Ability to supervise, mentor and support junior engineers and take on increasing leadership responsibilities.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and collaborative skills.
- Interest in sustainable, innovative and digitally enabled engineering solutions.
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK at the time of application and for the duration of employment. Any offer made will be subject to satisfactory proof of immigration status.
