Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.
The Opportunity. As part of this exciting opportunity, we are seeking an experienced Chartered Electrical Engineer who will join the leadership of our team as an Associate. You will be guiding and coordinating the design of various projects, from inception through to construction, providing technical guidance and design management. This will include collaborating with colleagues from all over Arup in the delivery of multi-disciplinary designs.
With experience in MEP design, you will have the self-assurance to lead your engineering discipline, as well as the ability to take a leading role on projects coordinating the overall Arup project team. Mentoring and development of junior colleagues as part of the electrical discipline leadership will form a core responsibility. You will contribute to recruitment, appraisals and the performance, development, morale, and motivation of members within the team.
You will have the opportunity to act as Project Manager, responsible for the resourcing, commercial delivery and success of the project. Contribute to winning work by taking a role in the preparation and presentation of bids, and liaising directly with clients. You will have the opportunity to do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to our members and to the clients and communities we serve.
Is this role right for you? We’re looking for a candidate who can demonstrate:
- You are an enthusiastic engineer who enjoys working collaboratively in multi-professional design teams and taking responsibility for projects from inception to completion to achieve outstanding results across some or all the following sectors: Science, Industry, Healthcare and Data Centres.
- You are a Chartered Engineer with experience in the field of Electrical Engineering and have a broad range experience in systems and installations, ideally including HV substation design.
- Actively support the performance, work and development of others, providing guidance, training, and motivational and directional feedback.
- You should have commercial awareness, client-facing skills and be able to represent Arup externally.

We are owned in trust on behalf of our members, giving us the freedom, with personal responsibility, to set our own direction and choose work that aligns with our purpose and adds to Arup’s legacy. Our members collaborate on ambitious projects to deliver remarkable outcomes for our clients and communities. Profit Share is a key part of our reward, enabling members to share in the results of our collective efforts.
We also provide Private medical insurance, Life assurance, Accident insurance and Income protection cover.
