Our Site Development (Civil Engineering) Teams work at the interface of planning, engineering and delivery, leading the design of civil and infrastructure solutions that unlock development sites, supporting master planning, mixed use and specialist developments from early feasibility through to construction, in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. They also provide Civil Engineering and Leadership expertise in support of major projects led by our Energy, Water, Transport and Building teams across the UK.
We have an opportunity for a Principal Civil Infrastructure Engineer β Site Development to take a leading role in the growth and delivery of our site development capability in Whitehaven. This is a key leadership position combining technical excellence and team development, whilst supporting both local delivery and wider regional collaboration across the North. You will play a central role working on projects across major frameworks including Sellafield and United Utilities, acting in key positions such as Responsible Engineer (RE). You will be client-facing, guiding complex projects whilst helping develop, mentor and inspire engineers at different stages of their careers.
As a Principal Civil Infrastructure Engineer, you will be expected to manage and guide multi-disciplinary projects while providing technical knowledge and mentoring to other engineers. Your role will involve directing in a dynamic and stimulating environment with a myriad of opportunities to apply your knowledge and expertise to a range of exciting projects. You will use your specialist expertise to solve complex engineering challenges, connect technical solutions to broader project outcomes, and contribute to the continued growth of our civil infrastructure capability across the North.
Is This Role Right for You?
We're looking for candidates who can demonstrate:
- Chartered status (CEng or IEng) through ICE or a relevant professional body
- Experience in site development and civil infrastructure design and delivery undertaking key roles, within complex or regulated environments (e.g. nuclear, utilities)
- Experience leading, coaching or supporting teams, contributing to technical capability within a team or organisation and ultimately delivering high-quality outcomes.
- Experience working in client-facing and construction environments, with an ability to build trusted relationships with clients, colleagues and stakeholders
- Strong collaboration skills, with experience working across multi-disciplinary teams or office locations
- Commercial awareness and ability to support project and business performance
- Holding relevant security clearance (e.g. BPSS, SC, or Sellafield-specific clearances) would be advantageous.
