The Opportunity. We are seeking a Senior BIM professional to develop and create a step change in our BIM capability in the West region team. The highly skilled and motivated BIM professional will work within the West Property Science & Industry groups, based at the Cardiff office, reporting to the team leaders but linked to the wider network within West. The successful candidate will be responding to and authoring BIM documentation for both internal and external use. This role involves resourcing and allocating tasks to team members, carrying out appraisals, mentoring technicians and engineers, and providing constructive feedback to help them enhance their skills and knowledge in BIM-related activities. Managing model environments is a key responsibility of this role, they will lead and develop the team’s BIM activities and capability within a large multi-disciplinary group of engineers and technicians, ensuring that all models meet both client project needs and that high standards are implemented and maintained. This includes setting up the project environment, onboarding team members, and liaising with the wider design team to ensure the efficient exchange of information in accordance with project needs.
The BIM professional will also be implementing Arup standards across all BIM-related activities, ensuring consistency and quality in all projects. They will be expected to lead coordination sessions, utilize Revit to model MEP building services designs, and support engineers and technicians in delivering projects. Ensuring seamless project execution and collaboration among team members is essential. Furthermore, the BIM professional will be expected to attend project meetings with clients and the design team, liaise with design engineers, and maintain strong connections to the Arup BIM community. This role demands excellent communication and interpersonal skills to foster effective collaboration and maintain strong professional relationships.

Is this role right for you? We are seeking the following skills and experience:
- Degree qualified in a design engineering-related discipline such as Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural and Environmental Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or other fields relevant to BIM within an engineering context. We also welcome candidates working towards or holding professional registration via the Engineering Technician (EngTech) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) routes, reflecting a commitment to professional development and industry standards.
- Proven track record in leading and delivering BIM projects using Revit MEP within a building services environment, with strong technical expertise and a solid understanding of MEP BIM delivery, while effectively managing engagement with both internal and external clients.
- Strong working knowledge of BS EN ISO 19650 standards and associated guidance documents, with practical experience in their implementation across BIM projects.
- Extensive experience in developing federated BIM models and conducting multidisciplinary design reviews to ensure coordination, accuracy, and compliance across MEP systems.
- Strong ability to manage both personal and team workloads, with excellent communication skills to effectively translate complex technical concepts into clear business language. Demonstrates strong problem-solving capabilities and a genuine interest in client engagement and collaboration.
