The Opportunity

On this 10-12-month Internship you'll work alongside skilled professionals and from day one you will be working on real life meaningful projects - adding value to clients, while exploring challenges with curiosity and creativity. You'll learn from others and begin creating your professional network ready for when you graduate. There will be regular learning sessions with our leadership team, opportunities for site visits to local projects and all kinds of social events that will support your learning and development. Our aim is to welcome as many students as possible back into our other programmes, be that another internship or potential graduate position. This placement is the stepping-stone to your future.

In this role you will:

  • Design and deliver mechanical elements of water and wastewater treatment and pumping projects.
  • Support frameworks and projects for clients such as Welsh Water, Wessex Water, United Utilities and Severn Trent.
  • Work alongside Electrical and ICA (Instrumentation, Control and Automation) engineers to deliver integrated MEICA (Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation) solutions.
  • Provide design leadership, technical assurance, equipment specification, multidisciplinary coordination and support to Design Managers and Project Managers.
  • Assist with the design of water and wastewater treatment works.
  • Support the design of pumping stations, pipework systems, reservoirs and flood defence assets.
  • Carry out engineering calculations such as pump sizing, hydraulic assessments and equipment selection.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications and schedules.
  • Support production of design documentation through concept, outline and detailed design stages.
