The Opportunity
We are seeking fluvial hydraulic modellers to play a vital role in delivering flood risk management business cases and design projects. We want people who are passionate about rivers, flooding and the environment. Our work focuses on creating innovative solutions at both local and catchment scales, grounded in nature‑based systems and pioneering low‑carbon technology. You will join a technical delivery team that works collaboratively with colleagues across our multidisciplinary firm on a diverse range of projects of national and global significance. - Masters or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field (e.g. geography, environmental science, civil engineering).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong numerical skills.
- Experience using hydraulic modelling software on flood risk projects – preferably Flood Modeller, ESTRY, and TUFLOW.
- Competent in the use of GIS software such as QGIS or ArcGIS.
- Experience writing technical hydraulic modelling reports.
- A desire to learn, work in a team, and produce high‑quality work you are proud of.
- Willingness to investigate innovative solutions to solve difficult modelling challenges.
Nice to have:
- Awareness of hydrological assessments.
- Experience delivering optioneering, appraisal and justification of FCERM projects and nature‑based solutions.
- Experience in Flood Risk/Consequence Assessments.
- Experience developing FCERM business cases.
- Digital/coding skills such as Python, FME and Excel.
- Ability to present technical findings through meetings, presentations, and reports.
- Experience of supporting junior hydraulic modellers.
- Experience of client and stakeholder engagement and working across multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Working towards professional accreditation.
