Our Level 4 Advanced Apprenticeships allow you to study for industry-recognised qualifications whilst earning a competitive salary. As an apprentice, you will study with a training provider, such as a college, and combine this experience with real responsibilities in the workplace. Your study pattern could be day or block release, or via distance learning, depending on the course that you enrol on. A dedicated mentor will guide you through your personal and professional development. Level 4 Apprenticeships have a typical duration of two or three years, during which you will attain both a professional and academic qualification to further your career. Our apprentices are employed on a permanent basis, so you will continue to progress with Arup once you have completed your course.
As a Project Management Apprentice at Arup, you will be integrated into our dynamic Project and Commercial Management team. Your role will involve supporting the delivery of various engineering, environmental and consultancy projects from conception to completion, ensuring they meet our high standards of quality, time, and budget. You will assist in various tasks such as cost control, contract administration, project scheduling and stakeholder communication, playing a pivotal role in the successful execution of some of our most interesting projects.
Throughout your apprenticeship, we are committed to developing your knowledge, skills, and behaviours. This development will occur through a blend of on-the-job training, mentorship from experienced professionals, and formal education. You will engage in a structured program that covers project management principles, commercial awareness, and soft skills such as teamwork and communication. Regular feedback sessions and performance reviews will ensure your continual growth and alignment with your career aspirations.
On a day-to-day basis, you will be immersed in a variety of projects ranging from infrastructure development to sustainable energy solutions. Your involvement will include participating in project meetings, assisting in the preparation of project documentation, and contributing to the resolution of project and commercial issues. You will make a tangible impact by ensuring project tasks are completed efficiently, contributing to cost-saving initiatives, and enhancing client satisfaction through effective communication and service delivery.

We are seeking candidates with a strong academic background, ideally with qualifications in subjects related to mathematics, science, or engineering. A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade C/4, including Math and English, is essential. We also value candidates who demonstrate a keen interest in Project Management and the built environment, possess a willingness to gain expertise in digital, analytical and problem-solving skills, and exhibit a proactive and collaborative approach to their work.
