As an apprentice, you will study with a training provider, such as a college, and combine this experience with real responsibilities in the workplace. Your study pattern could be day or block release, or via distance learning, depending on the course that you enrol on. A dedicated mentor will guide you through your personal and professional development. We are looking for a Building Services apprentice to join our Building Engineering BIM team in our Birmingham or London office. Building Services engineering encapsulates systems such as heating, ventilation, lighting, power, water services, life-safety systems and data communications. Building Information Modelling (BIM) enables us to design and visualise buildings collaboratively using 3D models and information to aid in the delivery of our projects.
You will work on a variety of projects across different sectors, including education, commercial, sports, health and industry. This has recently included projects such as the Alexander Stadium, National Rehabilitation Centre and Paradise Birmingham. As an apprentice, you will be working with and supported by other apprentices and BIM technicians using digital tools to create intelligent 3D models and drawings to communicate the Arup design. You will be working towards becoming a Building Services BIM Technician responsible for 3D model and drawing production, information management and digital collaboration.
As part of your apprenticeship, your academic studies will lead to a BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Building Services Engineering delivered at a local college. In parallel to the academic side, the on-the-job learning will lead to an industry recognised EngTech professional qualification. Upon completion of the Level 3 Advanced Apprenticeship there is an opportunity to progress on to a level 4 Information Management apprenticeship to continue your BIM and Information Management development.
