Job description - the role

AMS is the world's leading provider of Talent Acquisition and Management Services. Our contingent Workforce Solutions (CWS) service acts as an extension of our clients' recruitment team and provides professional interim and temporary resources. We partner with Arup to support contingent recruitment processes. On behalf of Arup, we are looking for an Airside Civil Design Engineer for a 12-month contract based in Midlands/Manchester/Birmingham.

Overview of role:

  • Excellent Modelling (Civil 3D) skills
  • Detail knowledge of managing spatial information, models, including file and project set up, implementation and developing drawings compliant with CAD standards
  • Attention to detail and robust self-checking and checking of other work
  • Design spatial coordination of airfield infrastructure projects
  • Effective design liaison with internal and external clients
  • Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to work under pressure and to meet strict deadlines is essential
  • Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills

Essential Skills and Knowledge

  • Experience of undertaking designs to airfield design standards such as EASA, ICAO, CAP168
  • Civil 3D experience. Experience of developing Alignments, corridors and 3D surface models. Experience in setting up bespoke subassemblies
  • Minimum 5 - 10 years Autodesk 3D design experience
  • Enthusiasm and ability to improve processes including increasing automation, utilizing scripting and FME to improve process speed and accuracy
  • A good understanding of constraints associated with working on a live airfield
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (including formal and informal presentation, written communications and reports)
  • Ability to relate and work well with people at all levels within the project team and within the wider office, as well as externally with clients and contractors
  • Need to be highly motivated and willing to take on new challenges
  • Able to work in a multi project, multidisciplinary, multicultural environment
  • Good mentoring and development skills to support development of others within the team
