The Opportunity
Arup’s UKIMEA and Europe Aviation Planning team operates globally delivering the planning for major airports across Europe and around the world. We are committed to providing robust planning and advice founded on rigorous analysis, thorough knowledge of the aviation industry and excellence in technical skills.. Our business is growing along with our track record of exceptional aviation projects.
We are currently seeking an experienced Airfield Planner to join our Airfield Engineering team in the Midlands. In this role, you will also be part of the Aviation Planning team across the UKIMEA and Europe regions, with a primary focus on supporting UK airfield projects, contributing to regional and global initiatives. The expectation is for the role to be Nottingham based but we can consider applications to be based at other Arup offices.
Is this role for you?
The successful candidate will take responsibility within Airfield Engineering, for tasks relating to some or all of the following:
· 6-10 years relevant airport planning experience – including airfield facilities requirements and planning, airport master planning, technical due diligence and a desire to build a long term aviation planning and consultancy career.
- Airfield and apron Planning & Demand/capacity analysis
- Facilities programming and technical coordination
- Whether working for regional airports or the world’s largest hubs, we apply the same high calibre of analysis, creativity and strategic thinking, focused on understanding and serving our clients’ needs. Client interfacing - representing Arup at internal and external meetings
- Leading and Participating in the development of airfield spatial plans and designs & airfield simulation models
- Developing airfield facility requirements
Requirements
- Project management & technical coordination
- Management and development of junior staff
- Business Development in the field of Airfield Planning and Simulation
- Provide assistance in the preparation of airport master plans, program definition documents, planning studies and reports
- Educated to degree level in aviation, planning, civil engineering or architecture related subject (preferably post-graduate degree)
- Knowledge of platforms such as AutoCAD, MicroStation, and Revit, including experience with 3D modelling.
- Experience in airfield /apron layout detail planning using AviPlan and airfield simulation dynamic modelling (eg CAST Aircraft, Airtop) and ICAO, EASA and IATA standards and recommended practices is required including experience in their interpretation.
