Climate change • Climate change refers to long‑term shifts in temperatures and weather patterns. Human activities have been the main driver of climate change, primarily due to the burning of fossil fuels like coal, oil and gas.
We are looking for an Acoustics Consultant to join Arup’s Acoustics, Audio Visual and Theatre Consulting team, supporting the delivery of high‑quality acoustic design and advisory work across a broad range of projects. This opportunity reflects our continued growth in the Property and Science, Industry and Technology markets – particularly in commercial workplace and data centre projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining technical rigour with creative problem solving, and who wants to develop within a collaborative global practice. You will work alongside experienced colleagues and specialists across Arup’s wider network, contributing to projects where acoustic performance is central to successful outcomes.
At Arup, you belong to an extraordinary collective – in which we encourage individuality to thrive. Our strength comes from how we respect, share and connect our diverse experiences, perspectives and ideas.
You will have the opportunity to do socially useful work that has meaning – to Arup, to your career, to the members and to the clients and communities we serve.
Is this role right for you?
The successful candidate will bring previous experience in acoustic consultancy, supporting acoustic design across areas such as building acoustics, environmental noise, building services noise and vibration, room acoustics, sound insulation, façade design and construction‑stage support.
We’re looking for a candidate with:
- Relevant tertiary qualification in acoustics, acoustic engineering, building physics, mechanical engineering or a related discipline, with a commitment to ongoing professional development, including progression towards membership of a relevant professional body such as the Institute of Acoustics.
- Experience in acoustic consultancy, with a sound understanding of building acoustics, environmental noise, building services noise control and vibration assessment, ideally demonstrated on commercial workplace and/or data centre projects.
- Experience with relevant design and modelling software such as ODEON, CATT, SoundPLAN, CadnaA, Revit or AutoCAD, alongside an awareness of AI‑enabled design tools and an interest in their responsible use within consulting.
- A client‑focused and commercially aware mindset, with the ability to understand client drivers, balance technical excellence with programme requirements, and translate expertise into practical, buildable and commercially viable outcomes.
