Our Level 6 Degree Apprenticeships allow you to study for industry-recognised qualifications whilst earning a competitive salary. As an apprentice, you will study with a training provider, such as a university, and combine this experience with real responsibilities in the workplace. Your study pattern could be day or block release, or via distance learning, depending on the course that you enrol on. A dedicated mentor will guide you through your personal and professional development. Level 6 Degree Apprenticeships have a typical duration of 3–6 years, during which you will attain both a professional and academic qualification to further your career. Our apprentices are employed on a permanent basis, so you will continue to progress with Arup once you have completed your course.
The Opportunity
Building Services Design Engineer:
Together with Arup's mechanical and electrical engineers, we provide an integrated building services offering. We also collaborate with water engineers to ensure that plumbing and infrastructure work together, in sympathy with the complete water cycle. Our public health team offers our clients a broad spectrum of expertise and consulting services in a wide range of developments, such as commercial, residential and hospitality developments, universities, colleges and schools, hospitals and healthcare buildings, laboratories and research facilities, transport projects, including airports and rail stations, sports facilities and stadia, theatres and performance venues, museums and art galleries, large-scale industrial and manufacturing facilities and data centres. You will be working in a multi-disciplinary office with structural, mechanical and electrical engineers and specialists such as fire and acoustic engineers, preparing designs in co-ordination with their team as well as external architects, surveyors, contractors and clients for projects across a wide range of markets.
We are looking for candidates with:
- A Level maths or mathematics-based subject plus at least one from physics, physical science, engineering science, computer science, technology, chemistry or other science or technology subject.
- 112 UCAS points including at least 64 points from two A levels or equivalent BTEC.
- DMM in BTEC Extended Diploma in a science or technology-based subject (including passes in mathematics and two other science or technology-based modules).
Digital Technology Solutions Professional - Network Engineer:
As a Level 6 Degree Apprentice Telecoms Engineer, you will work on the design and specification of ICT systems and services for the built environment. You will be working closely with and providing technical support to our engineers and consultants in carrying out design work according to the client requirements. In addition to design, this role will also include ICT space planning, ICT appraisal and overseeing the installation and bringing into service of ICT which will typically include:
- Physical infrastructure (e.g. ICT rooms, routes and risers) and Cabling (e.g. copper and fibre)
- Local Area Networks (LANs)
- Wireless LANs
- Telephony Systems
- Television Distribution Systems (Terrestrial, Satellite and IP)
- Private Mobile Radio Systems
- Cellular Enhancement Systems e.g. DAS and Small Cells
- Cyber Security
This apprenticeship leads to a BSc Digital and Technology Solutions Degree (Network Engineer Pathway). From your first day you will join a community of experts, where everyone is supported in their career path and encouraged to work towards an accredited qualification. You will be assigned a mentor within your team to ensure a smooth transition into the working environment. You will work and liaise closely with them in your day-to-day work.
We are looking for candidates with:
- Three or more A Levels at Grade B or above, or equivalent, or a BTEC Level 3, in relevant STEM subjects such as Computer Science, ICT or Maths.
- Grade B/5 or above in English and Maths GCSE, or equivalent qualification.
