On behalf of Arup, we are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a 12 month contract which can be based in Cardiff, Birmingham, Bristol, or Nottingham. The Aviation Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) design team delivers mechanical building services and specialist aircraft systems for complex aviation facilities.
This role involves leading mechanical design, supporting multidisciplinary project teams, and guiding junior engineers across a range of aviation projects. Responsibilities include:
- Leading and contributing to the design of mechanical building services including HVAC, ventilation, chilled water, heating systems, compressed air, and specialist process ventilation.
- Interfacing with multidisciplinary teams including structural, electrical, and digital engineering teams to deliver coordinated building systems for complex engineering environments.
- Undertaking site visits, surveys, inspections, and technical assurance activities during construction and commissioning phases.
- Preparing engineering documentation including calculations, specifications, technical reports, schedules, and equipment selections.
Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
- Knowledge of mechanical building systems design, including HVAC, cooling systems, process ventilation, and building services integration.
- Proven experience delivering multi-disciplinary engineering projects in technical or highly regulated environments.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, perform mechanical calculations, and review MEP design packages.
