On behalf of Arup, we are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer for a 12 month contract that can be based in Cardiff, Birmingham, Bristol, or Nottingham. The Aviation Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) design team delivers mechanical building services and specialist aircraft systems for complex aviation facilities.

This role involves:

  • Leading mechanical design, supporting multidisciplinary project teams, and guiding junior engineers across a range of aviation projects.
  • Leading and contributing to the design of mechanical building services including HVAC, ventilation, chilled water, heating systems, compressed air, and specialist process ventilation.
  • Interfacing with multidisciplinary teams including structural, electrical, and digital engineering teams to deliver coordinated building systems for complex engineering environments.
  • Undertaking site visits, surveys, inspections, and technical assurance activities during construction and commissioning phases.
  • Preparing engineering documentation including calculations, specifications, technical reports, schedules, and equipment selections.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering.
  • Knowledge of mechanical building systems design, including HVAC, cooling systems, process ventilation, and building services integration.
  • Proven experience delivering multi-disciplinary engineering projects in technical or highly regulated environments.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, perform mechanical calculations, and review MEP design packages.
