What difference will you make? Arun Counselling Centre has been running for over 40 years and our goal is to ensure that the charity is still running 40 years from now. This is an exciting opportunity for a Trustee to have a long-term role in a charity that supports people access the counselling and therapeutic support they need, whilst playing an active role in developing future counsellors.
What are we looking for? We need Trustees with life experience and lived experience of mental health is always beneficial. However, professional experience in the sector is not required. We currently have Trustees who are qualified Counsellors and hold psychology backgrounds, so whilst we welcome applicants with this background too, we are also excited to see what new skills and experience Trustees can bring. We would benefit from Trustees with experience working in the third, public or private sector, particularly if they have an understanding of finance, marketing & comms, training & development and/or project management.
What will you be doing? We have a Chair who has been in place for several years, with a current board of 4 other Trustees. Our ambition is to grow the number of Trustees, developing a wider pool of skills and experience. Arun Counselling Centre appointed a new Director of Operations to lead the service earlier in the year, so this is an exciting period for the charity as it goes for growth. ACC has had a fantastic last 2 years, growing income significantly, mostly through the work of its talented Fundraising Lead and successful grant applications, as well as continuing to uphold its reputation as one of the best counselling services in the South East, with first class supervision for Counsellors. Our big goal is to increase the number of clients we support each year, mostly by expanding into new areas, as well as improving the training and development offering, to grow income further.
Commitment: Our Trustees need to commit to one meeting per quarter, alongside up to 2 hours per month to review proposals and papers between meetings. Additional hours are always welcome depending on the level of involvement Trustees wish to have.
