About the Role: Student & Library Services provide a modern, comprehensive service in support of teaching, learning and research, blending library services with flexible, innovative approaches to student support. We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join our friendly Customer Service team in Cambridge, contributing to our commitment to excellent service delivery and student success.

In this front-line role, you will answer a wide range of enquiries from students, staff, and visitors in person, by telephone, and online via email or chat. These will include helping address students' pastoral needs, basic IT questions, and signposting individuals to specialist university services where appropriate. You will also support a variety of administrative and service processes that help students throughout their journey, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.

A proportion of your time will be allocated to library stock and space management tasks. These will include checking lists and supporting the circulation and maintenance of our physical resources and spaces. You will also contribute to wider duties and projects across Student & Library Services on a rotational basis. Full training will be provided across all areas. This role directly contributes to the University's goals to enhance student retention, achievement, and employability by ensuring that students receive high-quality support and accurate information when they need it.

Experience and skills we are looking for:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and enjoyment of working in a customer-focused environment
  • Previous experience in a customer service and administrative setting, ideally in Higher or Further Education
  • IT literacy, including strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and confidence working with information management systems
  • A flexible approach with strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to plan, organise, and progress work activities effectively to meet deadlines
  • Two A-levels, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent vocational qualification

Working hours: We are looking to fill one position working 37 hours per week: 08:30-17:00, within the hours of Monday to Friday. There may be occasional Saturday or evening work to support Open Days and other events.
