Breakthrough is a 6-month employability programme designed as a stepping stone to help you gain workplace experience and essential employment skills. The Technical Team is responsible for the daily technical requirements of a busy and varied programme, including professional & amateur performances, workshops, masterclasses, conferences, and film screenings. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to learn alongside a small team, providing high-quality technical operation of the venue and excellent support to visiting artists and clients hiring spaces within Pavilion Dance, all while adhering to health & safety regulations.
This role will include:
- Learning to set up and run live performance, participation events, and films at various locations.
- Learning to operate and program lighting (ETC) and sound (QLab + Allen & Heath) for a wide range of events.
- Assisting external hirers with technical support, ensuring the best customer service.
- Collaborating with Front of House colleagues to set up spaces for classes, talks, and meetings.
- Ensuring studios, workshops, stores, and stage areas are kept safe and tidy.
- Cleaning, maintaining, and repairing technical equipment as needed.
- Supporting general maintenance of Pavilion Dance where appropriate.
- Attending planning meetings and rehearsals as required.
- Understanding and following health & safety standards to promote safe working practices.
- Contributing to PDSW’s environmental commitment by reducing, recycling, and reusing resources.
- Participating in training sessions, staff meetings, and staff development activities.
- Supporting the Technical Manager in logging equipment and maintaining inventory.
- Contributing to show reports and incident reports for management.
- Undertaking additional duties within the scope of the role as needed.
Additional Information
- This role involves manual handling and lifting (approx. 20 kg).
- This role involves working at heights (Theatre rig 5.5 m).
- This role requires late-night work, weekends, and bank holidays.
