This opportunity allows you to understand and contribute to the workings of a nationally renowned gallery. Working alongside experienced arts professionals, you will support various aspects of our programming, both visitor-facing and behind the scenes.
You will develop a broad range of skills including event delivery, communications, community engagement, gallery operations, and working with artists.
This role will include:
- Working with our Visitor Services team to support visitors in having a memorable experience of Towner
- Preparation, setup, and delivery of events such as talks, film screenings, and First Friday Late events with our Public Programme Curator
- Supporting Family Day, Year 9 Programme, and other events within the Learning team
- Designing and producing digital badges
- Providing admin support across all gallery areas
The role is based at Towner Eastbourne, located in Devonshire Quarter.
After initial training with the Visitor Services team, you will join the team for regular shifts each week. Once settled, you will be introduced to our office-based colleagues and begin working with them on specific events and programming for two or more days each week.
There will also be opportunities to explore interests across departments such as Exhibitions, Learning, and Marketing, depending on your preferences.

Situated where the coast meets the South Downs, Towner hosts exhibitions of national and international importance for audiences in Eastbourne, the UK, and beyond, showcasing the most exciting developments in modern and contemporary art.
Towner is a free resource for the local and wider community. Our Learning Team supports local schools, colleges, and other groups, and collaborates with artists to offer innovative ways to explore creativity. We run a programme of events for all ages, provide gallery engagement resources, and facilitate skills development for those interested in the creative industries.
