The King’s Head Theatre is seeking an ambitious Artistic Director and Chief Executive to lead the theatre into its next chapter.
This is an opportunity to decide what one of London’s best-known independent theatres becomes next. You will build on a remarkable history, a distinctive artistic identity and a new building. You will have the authority to shape the programme and the organisation, and to create new opportunities for artists and productions to reach audiences beyond the theatre.
Few theatre leadership roles offer this combination of creative freedom, executive authority and entrepreneurial scope. This is not a caretaker role: you will define the King’s Head’s programme and identity, shape the organisation that delivers them, and lead its producing, fundraising and capital ambitions. We welcome candidates from every background who can bring together artists, audiences, partners and resources to build the next chapter of a distinctive independent theatre.
You do not need to have held this exact combination of responsibilities before. Strong candidates may include established artistic directors; senior producers, programmers, executive directors or general managers; entrepreneurial theatre-makers, whether directors, actors or writers; and experienced deputies ready for their first top job. What matters is the quality of your judgement, the strength of your relationships and the ambition you bring to the King’s Head.
