Job Summary

What to expect
- Acting as the interface between FACT and our diverse range of visitors, requiring accessible communication, active listening and ability to support all visitors
- Responsibility for welcoming all visitors and encouraging them into the galleries, as well as communicating FACT\'s forthcoming programmes
- Researching the artists and artworks thoroughly with support from other FACT teams to be able to talk confidently about the art to our visitors
- Answering any queries visitors may have about the artworks we are showing, events happening in the building or FACT in general
- Devising and conducting gallery tours with support from other FACT teams
- Selling tickets for FACT events and any merchandise as required
- Monitoring Health & Safety at all times ensuring the Welcome Desk, public spaces and Galleries are clean, tidy, and fully stocked
- Maintaining daily logs of visitor comments, maintenance issues and any notable details
- Ensuring visitors respect the rules and regulations in the spaces, reporting any issues immediately to the Visitor Services Manager and taking personal responsibility for any issues that you observe on a day to day basis
- You will also be responsible for assisting in emergency evacuations
- Responsibility for operating technical requirements of the artwork on a daily basis, including switch on and off procedures, reporting any faults immediately to the appropriate members of the FACT team and undergoing training to conduct basic troubleshooting
- Ensuring that surveys, data, and statements are being collected appropriately and delivered to the Marketing team
- Assist with promoting and supporting community bookings for the galleries and other event spaces
- Assist with welcoming the Studio Lab members and giving basic support as necessary
- Assisting the Visitor Services Manager in supporting any casual staff members on duty to ensure they have everything they need in terms of information and instruction about the day ahead
Job Requirements
Hours and Days of Work: 21 hours per week, scheduled on Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. These days are fixed working days, involving weekend work as standard and occasional evening work. Additional hours may be available upon occasion. This role will be based at FACT in Liverpool city centre. Remote working is not possible for this role.

Essential Skills and Experience:
- Aged over 18 years
- Experience in delivering excellent customer service to diverse audiences, with varying access needs
- Ability to adapt information and communication for audiences with varying support needs and understanding of art and artists
- Experience supporting colleagues and working as a team
- Experience in researching artists and artworks
- Experience in ticket and/or merchandise sales
- Experience in health and safety best practices within the workplace
- Ability to follow procedures to keep visitors and colleagues safe
- Experience in working unsupervised and maintaining expected standards of service
- Ability or willingness to learn how to present artworks, including public speaking in one-to-one and group situations
- Experience in or willingness to learn basic technical procedures
- Experience in or willingness to learn and undertake administrative tasks, including keeps daily logs, conducting visitor surveys and emails
