Salary: £1940 (we equate this to 10 days of activity at £194 per day, with half a day for facilitation and half a day for prep per week)
Job Requirements
As part of our Healing Arts for All project, funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Paul Hamlyn Foundation, we are looking for our next creative practitioner to guide our participants through 12 weeks of creative workshops specifically focused on the stories and lives of the South Asian community that worked at Brierfield Mill, an integral part of Pendle\’s extensive industrial history.
In our previous phases we have explored surface pattern, sound art, photography, mixed media and illustration, with visits to Lancashire Archives to give historical contexts and an insight into archival materials.
Our project is due to finish in 2027, where there will be a final exhibition of works made throughout the project by all participants and creative practitioners.
Job Responsibilities
- Design and facilitate a series of 10 creative workshops
- Engage with our core group of participants
- Join our team on three field trips to relevant exhibitions and partner organisations.
The creative practitioner will need to be available on the 20th November for the first workshop session, and then every consecutive Thursday for 11 weeks, apart from a two week gap taken during Christmas and New Year. Workshops are held at our office at Northlight in Brierfield.
The Creative practitioner will be paid for the delivery of 10 workshops and at-home prep work. They will also be in charge of a materials budget.
