Arty class is a dedicated school of drawing and painting covering Reading and Wokingham in Berkshire. We offer structured Art lessons for children aged 5- 16 years old. We are working in partnership with Artspiration (School of drawing and painting) that has been active in the Berkshire area for over 17 years, though set up in 2014.

We are looking for enthusiastic Artists who seek part-time work in Art Education to join our growing team. We are currently looking for an Art teacher to run art classes for our Wokingham art school, run sessions for 1-2 local primary schools in the area (beginning January 2026), with potential to also grow our Art school in Reading or Lower Earley. We offer flexibility over days and times to work around you.
Our aim is to nurture each child to bring out the best in them as well as creating a warm and enjoyable environment to work in. Our classes are centred on sharing a love of art, as well as developing drawing and painting skills.
If you are passionate about art and love working with children, we\’d love to work with you. We provide all the training, materials, and support in a collaborative, team environment, as well as opportunities to run additional classes. You will need a Bachelor\’s Degree in an Art related subject or a minimum of three years experience as a Teaching Artist, an enhanced DBS check (within the last three years) and a driving licence.
We will also consider applicants to teach only Art Schools or only After School clubs. If looking only to teach After School clubs, you will need a strong interest in Fine Arts, (A levels, Foundation or Diploma in Art subject desirable), experience of working with children, an enhanced DBS check, and a driving licence.
Job Requirements
- A Bachelor\’s Degree in an Art subject or a minimum of three years experience as a Teaching Artist. (Priority given to practicing artists).
- Good with children
- An enhanced DBS check clearance which is not more than 3 years old. Arty class can help you with this.
- Driving licence
- Public Liability Insurance, with cover of at least ÂŁ5m. Arty class can help with this.
- Safeguarding training
Job Responsibilities
- Nurture and engage with students, develop their artistic skills and build warm relationships with them
- Share artistic knowledge and enthusiasm
- Attend a staff meeting once a term in Wokingham to familiarise with course content (between 2-3 hrs)
- Set up and pack away the room 15-20 minutes before/ after the session, with all art materials ready to start the class on time.
- Familiarise with safeguarding policy and safeguard children at all times
- Deliver Arty classes, according to the Arty class curriculum
- Keep accurate records of attendance and project work
