Oxford Contemporary Music is one of the UK’s foremost new music organisations, working across many genres and disciplines. We produce innovative live music and cross art-form events, outdoor and site-specific work, run talent development initiatives, and engage with communities and young people to create music making experiences.

We are seeking a Director to take on the leadership of OCM with overall responsibility for the organisation, working alongside the Associate Director and supported by the Deputy Director, the rest of the team and Board of Trustees. The role requires vision, knowledge of the sector, leadership and strategic development, staff management, a proven track record in fundraising, and experience across finance, commissioning, producing, and marketing. You will have a passion for new music and sound based events, a network of relevant industry contacts locally, nationally and internationally.

OCM is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through – Arts Council Englandand supported with funding from – Oxford City Council. OCM is a – PRS FoundationTalent Development Network Partner supported by – PPLand an Affiliate Organisation of – Oxford Brookes University.
Job Requirements
The post requires someone who enjoys managing and leading a small team and has a generous, non-hierarchical approach. The Director is responsible for all aspects of the organisation’s work. The person should have a good awareness of contemporary music and its contexts, be an excellent communicator, and have a track record in fundraising and partnership working. Experience and a track record in marketing and in organisational management (including finances) is also essential. It is desirable that the postholder can quickly build a working knowledge of cultural life within Oxford, and should ideally be resident in the city either full or part-time.
