This is an opportunity to join the team of a unique organisation, at a unique time in its life cycle, coordinating The Yard’s fundraising efforts as we prepare to reopen a double‑sized premises and meet thousands of new audiences and supporters.

The Yard Theatre is doubling the size of its premises, with ambitious growth plans for earned income and fundraising, driven by a significant growth in expected audiences. The Yard’s small team all view fundraising as a core part of their roles; whether it’s meeting a donor, crafting a newsletter, or designing the messaging for a campaign, we all work together to raise the funds The Yard needs to deliver its mission.

As we prepare to reopen, we’re recruiting a Development Manager to help expand and coordinate these efforts – and those of our Trustee and Development Boards, who work closely with the team on campaign and event design, network connections, and planning asks.

We’re ideally looking for someone with experience of fundraising for the arts from both individuals and institutions – but we welcome applications from people whose experience has been in only one of these areas. Beyond this, we’re looking for someone who is excited by the prospect of joining a small, collaborative, high‑performing team at a moment of change for the organisation; someone who wants to grow professionally and enable the organisation to grow too.

If you love what The Yard stands for; you have solid fundraising experience in the arts; and you want a dynamic but supportive environment to develop your professional practice in relationship management, campaign planning, financial forecasting, and working with boards – you should apply.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Planning and managing applications, asks, and public campaigns, including financial planning.
  • Maintaining relationships with donors and prospects, and supporting the senior team to do so, including making asks.
  • Making grant applications, supporting colleagues to do so, and supporting the organisation’s relationship management of funding institutions.
  • Attending events and contributing to the fundraising culture at The Yard.
