Building Facilities Technician

Job Summary The Theatre Operations Team are collectively responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the building day-to-day. The Building Facilities Technician will provide practical support in maintaining and upkeep of the historic Grade II listed building. Job Description Department/Team: Theatre Operations Responsible to: Building Facilities Manager Contract: Permanent Location: The Old Vic, 103 The Cut, London, SE1 8NB Hours: Full-Time, 40 hours per week, working on a shift pattern to be determined but within the hours of 08.00-22.00, Monday to Sunday. Additional hours may be necessary to fulfill the requirements of the role. Salary: £28,808 per annum Person Specification (Essential) Experience in a similar maintenance or technician role, preferably within facilities or building operations. Basic understanding of UK building regulations and health and safety requirements. Technical qualifications or certifications such as City & Guilds or NVQ Level 2/3 in plumbing, electrical systems, or building services. Previous experience working within a public-facing premises. Ability to work collaboratively within a small team and autonomously with minimal supervision. Proven experience in completing building maintenance tasks. Good understanding of the safe and effective use of power and hand tools. Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and prioritize work effectively. A positive, proactive approach and strong relationship-building skills across departments. Ability to use initiative and find pragmatic solutions. Continuous improvement mindset. IT literacy, with good experience of Microsoft Office Suite (training provided if needed). Awareness of environmental sustainability practices.
