Finance Manager In Your Space Circus in Derry, Londonderry

In Your Space Circus is looking for an experienced, proactive Finance Manager to join our team in Derry–Londonderry.

This is a key role within the organisation, responsible for the effective day-to-day management of our finances and supporting strong financial planning, reporting and compliance as IYSC continues to grow.

The Finance Manager will work closely with our Company Director, staff team and Board and will oversee areas including bookkeeping, budgets, financial reporting and forecasting, VAT, grant administration, cash flow, credit control and statutory compliance.

We’re particularly keen to hear from people with experience in finance or accountancy within the charity/not-for-profit sector, including managing grant funding and financial reporting.

Experience of Xero would be an advantage.

Previous experience of circus or the arts isn’t required – we’re looking for a confident and highly organised finance professional who would enjoy working as part of a small, busy and creative team.

• Minimum 30 hours per week
• Based in Derry-Londonderry
• Permanent contract (subject to annual funding)

About the Organisation

In Your Space Circus, based in Derry-Londonderry in the North-West of Northern Ireland, is a circus school and performance company focused on circus, street theatre and outdoor productions.

We work individually and in collaboration with other organisations and communities involving circus skills (including juggling, diablo, acrobatics, unicycle, aerial, stilt-walking, clowning, etc.), street theatre, visual arts, music, costume-making, large scale carnival constructions and theatre.

We are at a pivotal and exciting stage in our journey, moving into a remarkable heritage building in Derry’s Cathedral Quarter.

While taking on the site involves significant capital investment, it opens up an extraordinary opportunity: to create a permanent home that reflects our ambitions and values, a space where circus, creativity and inclusive heritage can thrive side by side.

Current activities include the following

• An open circus school training children, young people and adults in a wide range of circus and performance skills.
• Personal and social development of children and young people from disadvantaged groups and communities through a proactive social circus outreach programme in a range of community venues across the North-West region.
• Circus and street theatre performances at a wide range of festivals and other events.
• Production of our own annual Circus, Arts and Music Festival – Carnival of Colours.
• Event Management services including event coordination, temporary structure and technical equipment hire.
• Currently undertaking a major capital development, transforming a heritage building – the Cathedral School - into a custom designed circus school, performance space and community hub.
• Development and delivery of a Heritage Activity Plan aligned with the move into the new building.

In Your Space Circus is a charitable company limited by guarantee with a board of directors.

We work with 150 freelance artists each year, supported by three full-time and four part-time staff.

Core and Programme funding is provided by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland and Derry City and Strabane District Council.

Other core and project funding comes from trusts and foundations, sponsorship, donations and earned income.
