Calling all creatives – Join our 2026-2027 Experiment Programme and help shape the future of education in Wales. Are you an artist or do you have extensive experience of creative practice? Do you believe in the importance of creativity within education? Can you ignite the imagination of young people? If the answer is yes, we want to hear from you.

What are we looking for? We’re offering a unique opportunity to be part of a programme aimed at reimagining teaching and learning. We’re looking for experienced creative professionals to join the Experiment Programme as Creative Learning Partners to co‑design and co‑deliver enquiry‑led learning experiments in schools across Wales.

Creative Learning Partners will:

  • Collaborate with teachers and learners, to bring the curriculum to life through enquiry‑led approaches in the classroom; rooted in Creative Learning pedagogy.
  • Co‑create and trial new ideas, using their creative skills to help embed creativity across the curriculum.
  • Support authentic, hands‑on learning that improves engagement and inspires teaching across literacy, health and wellbeing and Creative Learning across the curriculum.

We're looking for individuals who are confident working collaboratively, understand the value of creativity in education, and are excited to bring fresh thinking to the learning environment.

What is Experiment? Experiment is designed to offer an active platform for teachers to collaborate closely through an enquiry‑led approach, with the support of Creative Learning Partners, to strategically and practically incorporate Creative Learning methods within the classroom. The programme aims to strengthen literacy, health and wellbeing and Creative Learning across the curriculum. Each enquiry topic will respond to the school’s development priorities, ensuring relevance and impact. By working side‑by‑side with teachers and learners, Creative Learning Partners will help shape a more engaging and inspiring educational experience.

What’s expected of a Creative Learning Partner? Specific role requirements include:

  • An artist or person with extensive experience of creative practice living and working in Wales.
  • Available to attend a paid 2‑day in‑person training session with the Arts Council of Wales:
    • North Wales: 21-22 September 2026, Venue Cymru, Llandudno, LL30 1BB
    • South Wales: 23-24 September 2026, Swansea Arena, SA1 3BX
  • Lead the process of co‑planning a Creative Learning enquiry with a selected teacher, for a cohort of learners, linked to their school development needs (including either literacy, wellbeing, or Creative Learning across the curriculum).
  • Co‑delivery of face‑to‑face Creative Learning activities shared with class teacher and Creative Practitioners.
  • Co‑responsibility for documenting the progress of the enquiry and management of the enquiry budget, and main liaison between the Creative Learning Cymru team and School.
  • An understanding of the importance of creativity, especially within education.
  • Previous project management experience and strong organisational skills.
  • Previous experience of working with young people and committed to the vision and Creative Learning pedagogy of Creative Learning Cymru.

All successful applicants will need to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check, which Arts Council of Wales will process if necessary. Creative Learning Partners will be contracted for 10 working days per school (maximum two schools) with a minimum of five face‑to‑face enquiry delivery days. We offer a competitive daily rate of £300.

For full details on eligibility and requirements, please refer to the application guidance document below. Please do not apply if you are not available to attend one set of training dates. Being accepted on to the training does not guarantee that you will be matched with a school and offered work. This application is for a 12‑month contract, with the possibility of an extension or offer of similar work of up to a further 24 months, subject to need, performance and available funding. However, there is no guarantee of this. All creatives across Wales are invited to apply.
