About the role

Bournemouth Film School is seeking an academic specialising in Hair, Makeup and Prosthetic Effects who is passionate about teaching and student development. The successful candidate will deliver engaging practical workshops across hairdressing, makeup artistry, wig work, prosthetic application and fabrication, supporting students to develop both technical expertise and creative confidence. You will inspire students through hands-on learning while exploring the critical, historical and contemporary contexts that shape the discipline. The role includes contributing to contextual studies, tutorials, seminars and lectures, helping students understand the cultural, professional and theoretical frameworks that inform contemporary practice. The ideal candidate will have strong industry knowledge, excellent organisational and communication skills, and a commitment to inclusive, student-centered learning. They will support students in developing their creative identities and professional skillsets, preparing them for careers in film, television, theatre, fashion and related creative industries.

In meeting your performance expectations, you’ll receive an annual salary increase in line with the grade of your role. An annual cost of living uplift will be applied, the timing and implementation of which are subject to the University’s decision. AUB provides generous holiday entitlement, and you will be enrolled in the Local Government Pension Scheme (professional services staff) or the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (academic staff) from day one of employment.
