Overview

Arts University Bournemouth\’s AUB Academy is seeking a highly organised and proactive Operations Officer to support the smooth delivery of our short course programmes. The post holder will work closely with the AUB Academy Manager and Senior Operations Officer, balancing operational, coordination, and administrative duties, managing logistics and resources, and developing strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders. The role includes safeguarding responsibilities for under 18s on our Saturday Art School, Creative Arts Summer School, and all Summer Programmes where students are aged under 18 years, and collaboration with the Access and Participation Manager and Foundation Course Leader to meet widening access and progression objectives.

The post holder will deliver excellent customer service for our short course portfolio and contribute to the development and quality of AUB Academy\’s course provision, ensuring programmes remain current, accessible, and well run.

This is a hands-on role that involves moving course materials around campus, supporting early evening and Saturday shifts, and occasional out-of-hours work, especially during busy periods and summer. A flexible schedule will be agreed with the AUB Academy Manager. Flexibility in availability and a full clean UK driving licence are essential.

This position involves working with children (under-18s) / vulnerable people and therefore requires compliance with the University\\\’s Safeguarding Policies, including the requirement for enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service clearance prior to the commencement of employment. The University is committed to safeguarding practices in recruitment and selection for roles involving work with children and/or vulnerable people. The successful candidate will be required to complete AUB approved Safeguarding Training.

This position does not meet the UKVI salary requirements for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. Applicants must therefore demonstrate their right to work in the UK without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of short course programmes and work with the AUB Academy Manager and Senior Operations Officer to manage logistics, resources, and administrative duties.
  • Deliver excellent customer service for the short course portfolio and contribute to course development and quality assurance.
  • Coordinate safeguarding measures for under 18s across relevant programmes and collaborate with the Access and Participation Manager and Foundation Course Leader to widen access and support progression.
  • Lead on operational delivery and coordination, and develop strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate project management skills, strong written and verbal communication, and experience of using databases; conduct research, planning, and deliver administrative and operational needs.
  • Move course materials around campus and support flexible scheduling, including early evenings, Saturdays, and occasional out-of-hours work.
  • Ensure programmes remain current and accessible, and support recruitment and enlargement of provision for short courses.

Qualifications

  • Highly organised with excellent project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; experience with databases and research/planning.
  • Self-starter with understanding of the role of short courses in widening access to Higher Education; awareness of recruitment challenges and how to overcome them; commitment to outstanding student experiences; passion for creative arts education.
  • Flexible availability and a full clean UK driving licence.
  • Compliance with safeguarding policies; enhanced DBS clearance prior to employment; completion of AUB approved Safeguarding Training.
  • Right to work in the UK without sponsorship; this position does not meet UKVI salary requirements for Skilled Worker visa sponsorship.
