About the role

The Museum of Design in Plastics (MoDiP) at AUB is the only UK Accredited museum with a focus on plastics. Its purpose is to use its Designated collection to develop understanding of the value of plastics within historical, contemporary, and sustainable contexts. Working in a small team and reporting to the Curator of MoDiP, the post holder will support the activity of the museum with key responsibilities for the care of and access to the collection. The successful candidate will be highly organised and be able to follow procedure. They will have excellent curatorial skills with a working knowledge of accreditation standards, excellent written and verbal communication, and will enjoy a varied and interesting workload. They will be comfortable engaging with a variety of audiences from children to academics, and from students to the general public.

The role is offered part-time (0.8FTE). The position will include occasional evening or weekend working to support the delivery of events or other AUB activities. The work pattern will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate.

In meeting your performance expectations, you’ll receive an annual salary increase in line with the grade of your role. An annual cost of living uplift will be applied, the timing and implementation of which are subject to the University’s decision. AUB provides generous holiday entitlement, and you will be enrolled in the Local Government Pension Scheme (professional services staff) or the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (academic staff) from day one of employment.
