About the role
An exciting opportunity exists to work with a dedicated team supporting students and staff within the University Fashion & Costume and Textile studios overseeing evening access from 5pm till 8pm (Autumn & Spring Term) and 5pm-9pm (Summer Term) on a rotational basis.
Duties will include overseeing one of the areas, either Fashion & Costume or Textiles, offering general support and advice to students on a variety of techniques specific to the individual areas. This will include, but not limited to, use of steam irons, industrial sewing machines and overlockers in Fashion & Costume and pressure washer, brother embroidery machines and print room in Textiles. The student will be responsible for ensuring their correct and safe use, therefore, any applicants must have relevant skills in either department.
Workshop assistants will also be expected to safeguard materials, tools and equipment as well as act as fire wardensin the event of an alarm.
