Broughton Hospital is currently accepting applications for Recreational Therapist’s (RT) for our Recreational Therapy team. The RT will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating recreational therapy services under the clinical supervision of our Recreational Therapist Supervisors. The RT assists individuals in identifying barriers, interests, and the methods to overcome or utilise these in the community upon discharge. The employee completes a recreation therapy assessment utilising a variety of assessment tools. The employee contributes to the individual treatment plans by addressing individualised problems/goals and identifying specific recreational therapy interventions to be utilised in group or one-to-one settings.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Documenting patient responses to programs;
- Documenting patient progress related to goal achievement;
- Making behavioural observations as related to the patient's problem list and treatment plan.
The RT functions as a member of assigned treatment teams and gives input related to Recreational Therapy programming and overall treatment issues. This individual must be able to effectively communicate in oral and written fashion and must be able to maintain positive working relationships with patients, a variety of professionals, and the community.
Conditional Requirements:
- Selected applicants must be able to pass a State Bureau of Investigation Criminal History Check, and complete and pass BLS/CPR training and Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training during orientation.
This Position Is Designated As Mandatory And Must Report Or Stay Over During Adverse Weather Events.
The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. However, due to the nature of the services the hospital provides, the work schedule could change due to needs of the patient population.
About the Facility: Broughton Hospital is one of the three regional psychiatric hospitals with statutory responsibility for operating as part of the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF). With the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, we provide help and support to North Carolinians, and their families, experiencing mental illness. Our hospital serves the western thirty-seven (37) counties of North Carolina, as part of the state's system of care and treatment for persons with mental illness.
