Job Summary
The Marketing Officer will support the successful delivery of our marketing and audience development strategy. It is a vital role, helping to increase reach, grow ticket sales, and raise the profile of the OT’s artistic and community work.
Job Description
- Co-ordinate marketing campaigns for all OT activities, helping to ensure box office targets and engagement goals are met. This includes main production, community activities and the capital redevelopment plans.
- Assist in the production and distribution of printed materials, including programmes and brochures, including writing, editing and proofing. This includes working with actors, creatives, agents, and production teams to ensure accuracy of information.
- Lead on the day-to-day management of the OT\’s busy social media channels, planning, writing and scheduling engaging content across platforms.
- Ensure the delivery of paid social media campaigns, including setting up ads and tracking performance
- Ensure that all public facing content is accurate, timely and consistent with the OT brand and messaging.
- Co-ordinate press activity around productions and other projects liaising with external PR agencies to ensure wide reach of OT work.
- Proactively manage campaigns focused on accessibility and audience development, such as OT Under 30 and access performances (e.g. audio described and captioned shows)
- Track and report on engagement metrics, feeding insights into content planning and strategy
- Work with the Box Office Coordinator to monitor audience engagement and respond to comments and messages in a timely, professional tone
- Liaise with external freelancers (e.g. videographers, graphic designers) to support the production of marketing content.
- Proactively produce content, stories, and assets for marketing and communications use.
- Ensure that department administration and record keeping is up to date, including budget tracking.
- Ensure the OT website is up to date, accessible, and aligned with current campaigns.
- Recruit and manage work placements and interns for the marketing team, including international placements
- Represent the Marketing team, and the OT, at internal and external events, including press nights.
Job Requirements
- Demonstrable experience communicating with the public, especially with the aim of generating interest or sales
- Working knowledge of social media platforms and enthusiasm for digital communication
- Ideally, experience in marketing, PR or communications (in any sector) or some knowledge of those areas.
- Experience or knowledge in creating or managing content for social media or websites.
Skills and Attributes
- Excellent proof-reading and editorial skills with a strong eye for detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong writing skills with an ability to produce engaging and creative copy
- Strong analytical skills.
- Confidence using tools like Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, video editors, or web content management tools (Wordpress / Wix / Squarespace)
- Excellent organisational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to develop good working relationships with people inside and outside the OT
- Ability to multi-task and to work on multiple projects
