Overview

University of Reading Technical Services and the Reading School of Art seek an experienced, motivated individual to support practical teaching and project work in their audiovisual and related activities.

Job Description

As a member of our team you will use your technical skills and practical insight to work with students and academic staff to plan and adequately resource project work, maintaining both our stock of equipment and records related to it, training on equipment and software as required.

Supporting students in a studio environment, you will work to understand their needs, and offer advice and guidance on techniques they might use to produce their Artwork, with emphasis on the proper use of digital tools, and safe practice in areas such as electrical safety and work at height.

Responsibilities

  • A specialist level of experience with equipment such as digital cameras, lighting, display equipment, digital media players, sound recording and lighting.
  • Good knowledge of the use of a range of digital packages for editing and production, particularly Adobe Premier and other elements of the Adobe package.
  • An organised approach to managing a changing workload, with an emphasis on the use of databases and other electronic tools
  • Excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping artists complete their aims, and produce excellent works of Art.
